MEDIA UPDATE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flagstaff AZ, July 20th, 2020 at 7:45 pm the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Responded to a report of a Juvenile Hiker on Mount Elden found off trail by hikers who stated the Juvenile was in need of assistance, she had been there for a few days and was unable to walk out on her own.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue along with Guardian Medical Transport and responded to the Elden Lookout Tower and determined the best access to the juvenile. Once the best route was determined from the Elden Lookout Tower the Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue, and Guardian Medical Transport relocated to that location.
A member of the hiking party that located the juvenile guided search and rescue and Guardian Medical personnel toher location arriving at 10:23pm. The rescuers then assessed the juvenile and initiated some treatment. After providing some medical aid the juvenile was able to hike out with assistance to the Elden Lookout Tower whereshe was transferred to a Guardian Medical Transport ambulance at 2:20am in order to be transported to FlagstaffMedical Center for further medical care.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the hiking party who located the juvenile for their assistance with the rescue.
