Coconino County Search and Rescue Flagstaff Unit, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization, eligible to accept fully tax deductible donations. Each member of CCSSAR must supply all of his or her own personal equipment, including backpacks, clothing (including uniforms), personal safety gear, personal technical rescue equipment, etc. The Sheriff’s Office provides facilities, vehicles, communications equipment, team gear and training. The SAR Flagstaff Unit uses funds raised through donations, grants and member dues to supplement training expenses, purchase team gear and produce Preventative Search and Rescue (PSAR) materials. Any donations received by the SAR Flagstaff Unit go into a general fund controlled by the Unit’s Board of Directors, made up of active members of the team. Projects for which we are currently seeking donations include:
- Completion of the final phases of the new Search and Rescue Building and Training Center. The funds would go towards paving the parking area and building a high angle training tower.
- The acquisition of a dedicated technical rescue response vehicle.
- Creation of a Scholarship Fund for SAR training and education.

Coconino County Search and Rescue Flagstaff Unit, Inc. actively pursues grants to further its mission to provide professional, modern and effective search and rescue services to the community. While some of our funding comes from donations and dues, we also depend upon grants to explore new avenues and modernize our methods.
